About Us

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Space Coast Human Resource Association, we researched into the archives and former members memories and discovered the following information. The Association started in the late 1950s and was called Cape Kennedy Personnel, which was open to Cape firms only. Later, the Association changed its name several times. From Cape Kennedy Personnel, it became known as Cape Canaveral Personnel and then in the early 1960s it changed again to Brevard Personnel Association and was open to all Brevard County employers. It remained Brevard Personnel Association until 1991, when it changed to its present name of Space Coast Human Resource Association. According to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) records, the chapter was charted in October 1964 as the Cape Kennedy Personnel Association with a membership of 77, of which nine members were members of ASPA, the predecessor to SHRM.

The chapter continues to serve the human resource professionals in the central and northern portions of Brevard County. Throughout its 50 years, the chapter earned many Merit and Superior Merit awards. The chapter strives to provide its members with educational programs at its professional development meetings each month. The programs include nationally recognized speakers on topics of practical importance to the members. The monthly professional development meetings also provide an opportunity for members to network and share information and resources. In addition, the chapter consistently provides its members with valuable information through its interactive website where members and potential members can find chapter information and links to other human resource related websites. The chapter also sponsors seminars for the benefit of its members and local business owners, managers and supervisors featuring well known experts on a variety of relevant topics.

Last, but not least, throughout its history, the chapter has supported many local charities, including most recently, the Children's Home Society, through the generous donations of its members. The chapter also maintains a student membership for those individuals who are pursuing an education in human resource studies.

The chapter, through its members, is proud of its long history of professional service and is committed to providing many more years of the same high level of service to the Brevard County human resource community.

Congratulations to SCHRA on its 50th anniversary!
